PIANO DISCOVERY PROGRAM
ages 3 - 5
Are you considering piano lessons for your preschooler, but worried they might be too young? Music Steps Academy is the perfect place for them to get started. They will learn in a warm and nurturing environment and will be excited to come to lessons each week.
What To Expect:
Interactive, 30-Minute classes: Each session is packed with singing, dancing, and making music with friends.
Learning Through Play: We will explore piano geography and learn basic music concepts through movement and hands-on activities.
Skill Development: While learning music we also practice letter, number, pattern, and color recognition.
No Piano at Home Required: Students will play at the piano each lessons, are not expected to practice at home.
PIANO EXPLORERS PROGRAM
ages 5 - 7
Our Piano Explorers Program is specifically designed for younger beginners, ages 5-7, or our Piano Discovery graduates, to keep them engaged and have fun while learning the piano.
What's Offered:
Engaging 40-Minute Lessons: Classes include time at the piano and off-bench activities and games to reinforce learned concepts in a playful and engaging way.
Foundational Piano Skills: Students will work on establishing good piano posture, practicing healthy piano techniques, developing a strong sense of pitch and rhythm, and beginning note-reading skills.
Pathway to Advanced Learning: After completing the Piano Explorers program, students are ready to transition into our small group program, Piano Express, where they’ll continue to build on their skills.
PIANO EXPRESS PROGRAM
ages 7 and up
Our Piano Express program is offered to new beginners or continuing students ages 7 and up. It combines traditional methods with modern technology, allowing students to learn faster, stay motivated, and have fun.
Why choose Piano Express?
60-Minute Sessions: Students work independently with headphones for the majority of the class, focusing on their individual assignments. The last 15-20 minutes they will spend on musicianship, technique, ear training, composition, and theory.
Learn at Your Own Pace: Multi-level class format allows each student to progress at their own speed, making it easy to join anytime during the semester.
Innovative Technology: Students will have an access to the Piano Express app, so they can practice their songs with exciting backing tracks and enjoy a more interactive learning experience.
Convenient for Parents: Drop off multiple children at once and enjoy a full hour to run errands, while your kids immerse themselves in music!
Pathway to Advanced Lessons: After completing all 6 levels, students are fully prepared for advanced, one-on-one piano lessons.
PIANO JOURNEY PROGRAM
ages 13 and up
Our “Piano Journey” program would be a great fit for older beginners, transfer students with previous experience, or our “Piano Express” graduates who are committed to piano and ready for more advanced studies.
During their 75 min lessons, each students will rotate through 3 stations: 25 min one-on-one instruction, 25 min of Theory Work, and 25 min of Piano Lab.
The program is geared toward exploring a larger variety of repertoire, in-depth studying of music theory, and focusing on perfecting piano technique and musicality.
Dedicated home practice on a well-maintained acoustic piano or full size (88 keys) digital piano with weighted keys is expected.
